Let us remember Hattie Jacques (7/2/22 to 6/10/80)..
Hattie was an English actress who appeared in many genres of light entertainment including radio, film, television and stage. Jacques's career spanned from 1939 until her death in 1980. She is best remembered for her appearances in fourteen Carry On films and for her professional partnership with Eric Sykes.
She appears in many stage performances from 1939 to '79.
Hattie appeared in many TV shows including the more well known ones with Eric Sykes from 1946 to 1980.
Also in many radio broadcasts including shows like Hancock's half hour from 1946 to '71
She was in many films from 1946 to 1975 including 14 carry on films.
.. and even made an album with Eric Sykes in 1962.
We remember her as Madam Rosa in the Catweazle episode' The eye of time' which was originally broadcast on the 15th March 1970.

Wonderful actress and her turn as Madam Rosa is one of the guest star highlights of the whole series.

I quite agree, she was fantastic in it. Geoffrey adored her. He remembered that he felt so sorry for her during the filming because she was very uncomfortable due to her size by then and perspiring profusely, but it didn't have any effect on her scenes or her acting abilities She was lovely and I would have loved to have met her myself.

Alys and I recently watched the whole of the Sykes series - and Hattie was a wonderful comedy performer, sadly lost to the world too soon.

I saw a cameo of Hattie on a film called The Magic Christian (1969) starring Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr. Quite a bizarre film. Her character was called Ginger.
