Hello I’ve recently joined this excellent site, I was eight when Catweazle came on tv, in black and white for us, and I’ve recently watched both series on YouTube, what little I remembered was from the first series which I still enjoyed watching again, I was , I won’t deny, a little disappointed when I started to watch the second series however that soon changed and I enjoyed all of the second series a great deal. All the actors involved in both series were superb and Jeffrey was so....Catweazle..and it brought a lump to my throat, and I’m 59 in a week, when he told Touchwood it was time for him to go because he had renounced magic in the last episode.
Many thanks to those of you who created this site, Tiz a sign I found thee.
Best regards..... Ady

Thank you Carol Rewatching both series certainly took me back to the era I grew up in, in someways strict and harsh at times but also encouraged our imaginations as kid a lot more.
Many thanks.....Ady

Hello, everyone:
My name is Stephen. As a 7-year-old growing up in Liverpool, I was enthralled by Catweazle when it debuted in 1970. It was a weekend treat enjoyed by the whole family. Our family emigrated to Canada in October of that year, so I missed the second series of the programme. Unfortunately, Catweazle was never broadcast in Canada, or at least not in western Canada where I lived (and still live to this day). However, I eagerly read both of the books by Richard Carpenter. Am looking forward to watching both series on You Tube in the near future.
I should add that thanks to Catweazle, I became a life-long fan of Geoffrey Bayldon. It's always a delight to see him in the many films and programmes in which he appeared over the years, from Amicus horror films to TV series such as The Saint and Midsomer Murders.
Best wishes to you all from Vancouver, British Columbia.

Hello all I recently, around a fortnight ago, took the plunge and joined up to this wonderful, magical fanclub. Although I have made a few posts since, I just wanted to formerly introduce myself. Well I was born in the same year as the unveiling of my favourite sports car, the E-Type Jaguar. I was born, brought up and lived and worked in London. But as family and friends moved out of that, not particularly nice, metropolis, I moved down to the South East of kent knowing that if I needed to travel to the smoke, the easy travel links were no problem. I've taken time out of work for a short while after volunteering for redundancy so am chucking myself in to doing lots of DIY after a recent move.
As an eight year old not really into TV at the time because I was always out after school with friends, it was by chance that at 5pm on a special Sunday teatime, my Mum bellowed out into the street to come in for tea at the usual time of 5 o'clock. Little did I know that half an hour later, I would be ingrossed, along with my brother two years senior, and mesmerized by someone that gave us something quite, quite different...Magic. Catweazle never left me from those glorious thirteen weeks of tremendous Sunday teatimes feasting on salad with cooked meats and madeira cake. Every now and then, I am 9 years old, or at least I am inside and that feeling of 'nothing matters' while watching the mad magician, Carrot and co. I'm looking forward to what's in store here as and when things get back to pre- Covid and hope to exchange pleasantries with fellow weazlers.
The best of wishes to all.
Roy

hello co-Catweazlers
I am Yox.
I am happy and proud to be a member of the Club now.
Thank you very much to Carol who sent me the welcome pack that arrived yesterday and to Alan who quite early in the morning accepted me to the forum. I am looking forward to my location DVD as well :-)
I am born in Stuttgart, Germany, where I watched Catweazle as a boy and I was really enthusiastic about this eccentric and lovable creature. I studied in Freiburg, lived one year in the north of England and one year in Reims, France. Now I live in London.
I have recently visited the series 1 locations by cycling around in Catweazle-Land and also paid tribute to Geoffrey by visiting his resting-place.
I hope to get involved into many discussions.

Hi Everyone,
Delighted to join the board - I’m a longtime fan of Catweazle since stumbling upon the show during the Granada Plus repeats circa 1997!
Like quite a few others here I’m hoping for a Catweazle BluRay but in the meantime I’m currently reading the first Catweazle novelisation. A lovely way to enjoy the frantic fun and perfection of Series 1 through Kip Carpenter’s prose.
Good to be here, and to be a brother in magic!

My name’s Paul. I first watched both series of Catweazle when they were first shown on TV in London, where I’m originally from. I also remember reading articles and comic strips about it in Look-In magazine. I don’t remember how many times I’ve ever seen the series, though. I’ve never visited any of the locations because I didn’t know where they were.
I like to watch some classic TV series from years ago, but other things I’m into are ultra modern. I recently had the idea of making an AI program based on myself and what has influenced me to become who I am. Catweazle was on the list I made of TV series I watched. One actor who appeared in Catweazle helped me remember the title of a short lived Sci Fi series on ITV where in one scene a giant dog peed on a spaceship! Apart from that, I only remembered the theme music. Can anyone guess the name of this series?
I recently watched both series of Catweazle again on Britbox. I subscribed to Britbox because I wanted to play the second ever Classic Doctor Who story “The Daleks” to a friend who was visiting me and I had no other way of playing It to him! I think that Britbox certainly looks like good value for money! It includes the Gerry Anderson series “Supercar” and “The Secret Service” which I’ve never even seen before.

Hi There, I just want to say hello from germany. I am just enjoying my holiday and found the Catweazle books covered with dust on a shelf in the holiday home. Started reading and could not stop. Then I stumbled about this place and that brought the magic back. I would love to watch Catweazle in English, but I can't find English subtitles. My English is not good enough, but I'll keep on searching...:-) Hello magicbeard! It's now 2.5 years since you posted this. I read somewhere else on here that someone was asking the same thing. Was it you? Anyway, they found out there were no English subtitles available. However, Catweazle is speaking an old form of English, although not from the 11th Century because no one in the 20th Century would understand that unless they'd studied it! Currently, there seems to be a full set of Catweazle episodes on YouTube in German, so at least you could watch that.

Welcome along, Paul. I'm afraid that that short-lived sci-fi series doesn't ring any bells, at least not in terms of something I've actually seen... but I wonder, is it 'The Adventures of Don Quick'? (A series which is mostly lost now.)

Can you name the actor or charactor in Catweazle that appeared in this Sci-Fi series? It may help with this info.

(A series which is mostly lost now.) Yes, you're right! I thought it starred Ian Hendry. I suddenly remembered that his co star was Ronald Lacey. From this information I soon found out it was "The Adventures of Don Quick". It now seems that only the first episode survives.
