One of the predecessors of DVD Video was the VideoCompact Disc (VCD) engineered by Phillips. The discs could by played by Video-CD Players, Cd-i Players with a digital video extension and computers with CD-Rom drives. The technology was quite simple and the discs can still be played nowadays in DVD Players and Bluray players.
In 1995 6 episodes of Catweazle were released on VCD by Videofilm Express. The first contained the episodes De zon in een flesje (The Sun in a Bottle) and Kasteel Saburac (Castle Saburac). English language with Dutch subtitles.
I only have the first VCD and the picture quality is not very good, like a mediocre ´80s videotape with hick ups. The image is brighter than most VHS tapes. There were a lot of issues with playback, but still nice to have this Catweazle one.
