Dear fellow Catweazlians, Mayhap I was loooking in the wrong places, but does anyone know whether there's a thread on the CFC site concerning the music played in the Catweazle series?
It would be truly wondrous, if one day all the music in the Catweazle episodes could be made available, either on black wheels, CD or whatever medium seems fitting.
I know some of the music (most notably Mike Vickers' 'Day Trip'), but there's so much more. Maybe not all of it is on the same high level, but still there seems to be quite a lot that's interesting enough. Very often the importance of film music is underestimated. Most movies are way less effective without music. I remember once having seen the final shootout of 'Once upon in the West' on Youtube, with the original music, without music and with Strauss' 'Blue Danube' waltz. Of course, this was done on purpose in order to demonstrate the importance of film music. The effect was incredible. It's a shame I can't find this video on Youtube now.
On the practical side: apart from determining names of compositions and composers, there will be the matter of copyright and the size of the target audience: are there enough people around interested in paying for this? If only I had a crystal ball of even the Eye of Time...
Take care,
Martinus

The original score, incidental music for Series One is just wonderful. As you say Martinus, film/television scores can absolutely make or break a program. To me, Star Wars is the ultimate proof of that, but there are countless examples. Even the incidental 'dabs' and 'dashes' of Catweazle really give it so much more verve or soul, depending on the use. The despondent or reflective pieces work so well in particular in my view.
Great work by the composer definitely!
The use of the show's theme as a hummed tune in Series Two is, for me, an example of breaking the 'fourth wall': can you imagine if Dr Who character was to be humming the theme of the show?! LOL
