Well, whisper has it that East Clandon (well, the minutes of most recent meeting of the East Clandon Parish Council less mysterously)- the home of Home Farm (ie, 'Hexwood') - are actively planning for another village fete this year. It is unclear whether Home Farm will be able to host, given its still on the market (or was at least listed as being so two days ago), but the fact that the fete is going to go ahead suggests that no one in East Clandon thinks the sale is going to make a difference to the holding of the fete, and that in itself should give us cheer! Let us hope that Home Farm itself remains the venue, but there will be no reason why a 2024 Catweazle celebration can't take place in conjunction with the East Clandon fete, sometime in June. More information will be posted here as it comes to hand and in the meantime, interested queries and questions and ideas are definitely very welcome!

Looking at those minutes, it appears that the venue has been changed to the East Clandon Recreation Ground, which makes sense considering that Home Farm is no longer (or at least not currently) available to the Parish Council. The minutes of the council's October meeting suggests that the date for the fete will be Saturday 22nd June. They also suggest that the move to the Recreation Ground will be a permanent one. www.eastclandon.org.uk/minutes/ECPC-mins-2023-12Oct.pdf

Of course, while Home Farm will almost certainly be off limits, there are other locations in the area such as the Bishopsmead Parade shops on Ockham Road, East Horsley, which are great to see, and of course it's always good to meet up with fellow Weazlers - another motivator.

I concur completely! Being 'proximate' to Home Farm in itself will be nice, and the other locales are very close.

Are you thinking of attending the fete, all the way from Australia, if a catweazle stall was to be arranged there?

Hello Chas, Well, I don't have specific plans, but it is a possibility (not an overly strong one right now though). Irrespective, I'm happy if I can in any way help to facilitate it and have others enjoy it! Cheers

Btw, the minutes of the most recent meeting of the East Clandon Parish Council have just been posted, and there was a brief allusion to the fete, confirming the date of 22 June, but not saying anything more of substance about the event that would really be of interest - unless we think that knowing the cost of the equipment housing shed is of interest (I personally like knowing that is peering in too closely at the private affairs of East Clandon, although I don't think that they'd mind

Btw Weazlers, I take that Carol has taken the lead in organising the Catweazle stand in the past, would that be correct?

Dear all, The Club doesn't currently have any plans to have a stand or any 'formal' presence at the East Clandon fete, however, it does seem to present a wonderful opportunity for fans to gather together and to catch up in the near surrounds of 'Hexwood'! Please do post in this thread if you'd have an possible/definite interest in attending (recalling its commence at 2.15 pm on 22nd June), noting, that it would purely be social - a Catweazle community catch up - although it might present the opportunity to walk past Home Farm, which would represent a bit of a pilgrimage for some of us and a highlight Yours, Southernspirits
