Neil was a very clever chap. He spoke various languages and could play the piano. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to invite him along with Robin and Geoffrey etc. Alas it was not to be.

Neil plays a superb part in Enemy At The Door currently being shown on TPTV. Great charactor actor who is sorely missed.

His memorable, affecting performance in the Doctor Who story The Mind of Evil as Barnam, a prisoner who undergoes a mind altering process and ends up like an innocent child, was released as part of the Doctor Who: The Collection - Season 8 recently. My wife and I watched the story this week and it holds up well, with Neil's performance one of the highlights.

He had a role in the forerunner to the Beiderbecke Affair series, "Get Lost". He was also in "The Pot Carriers" (1962) alongside Alfred Burke which was on TPTV last week.

I've just been watching The Adventures of Black Beauty (1972) on YouTube. Neil Mccarthy appears on Episode 20, series one called "The Ruffians" written by Richard Carpenter. His character is called Gates.

Was going through The Two Ronnies on dvd yesterday and decided to watch the entire mini series of The Worm That Turned. Do you remember Deidre played by Neil in episode 4? He's wearing a fetching dress as are all the men. So hilarious seeing butch Neil in something frilly.

Here's a link to that episode of the worm that turned (ep 4). Neil can be seen at 4 min 50secs & 11 min 20 secs.

Got to confess that my attention was on the state police most of the time. What with the hot weather and me reaching 60, it's too bleedin' much!

I remember Neil in Who Pays The Ferryman? (1977) playing a Greek lawyer called Babis Spiridakis. He was well suited to the role as he spoke fluent Greek and was probably casted for this reason. I also remember him in Time Bandits as a robber, one of his last roles, I believe.
