What a talent Kip was. My first dealing with Kip was, as with Geoffrey, to contact him to start the club with his permission and authority. This was eagerly given. I had sent him one of our first membership packs which contained a badge that said "Bring Back Catweazle" on it. He immediately wrote back and said "I have a party coming up with tv people - could you do me 50 of those badges so that I can show them and give them out" Naturally I was delighted to oblige especially if it helped do just that, to bring him back to the new generation.
Kip was always a great patron of the club, and he told me that he loved coming to the Catweazle weekends. That of course was music to our ears. He always brought some of his books to sign as well. He was such a talented man, and children of his era have much to thank him for. It is so sad that he never lived long enough to see his dream of making the film "Catweazle" Well hopefully his dream will be coming true soon and I pray that he will be able to see it wherever he is.
It is also important to me that, along with our beloved Geoffrey, this brilliant writer should get the accolade he deserves at the 50th anniversary. I actually believe there should be a documentary about him - what say you?
