I have just joined the fan club as of this week and was delighted with the gifts received on receiving my membership. Despite being 18 years old when Catweazle started I have always regarded it as one of my favourite programmes ever. This is probably because it appeals to all ages, which cannot be said of many TV shows. I am from Leeds, which was Geoffrey Bayldon's birthplace, although I don't know exactly where in Leeds. Also I don't know if it is allowed to mention where his resting place is, as I travel quite a lot, and would like to pay my respects if I was ever in the area. Have just finished watching series 1 and it was quite sad as Catweazle returned to his own time leaving Carrot, looking almost heartbroken, as his friend left. Looking forward to Series 2 on Talking Pictures TV, although some think it was not as good as the first, it was still a quality programme. I have also bought the Tis Magic book, which I am halfway through at present. A good read to compare other people's opinions with mine, although a few of my relatives and friends look bemused when I tell them. Finally, a word of thanks to all those who established and run the forum and fan club. Too many things these days are thrown on the scrapheap far too soon and Catweazle brings back so many happy memories of the 70's, which were in my opinion, the best decade of my life.
Thanks for buying the Tis Magic book - I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. It was a pleasure to put it together and have so many talented people writing for it. It's great that it's finally out there in the big wide world and it's lovely to know it's being read and enjoyed.
Regarding Geoffrey's resting place, hopefully Carol can help you, but I imagine it's something best not revealed in a public forum. I don't actually know the location myself.
Will be going to Epsom shortly for a family christening so I am planning to take a trip to Geoffrey's resting place whilst I am down there. I am already missing watching the re-run of the series on Talking Pictures even though it only ended last weekend. Next job is to buy both series on DVD so I can watch whenever.
After many strange looks from my wife when watching I finally got her to sit down and watch a couple of episodes. She said eventually, I see what you mean, it's not just a show for kids. Looks like I may have added another fan to the group. Have also added my car sticker recently which gets either looks of total mystification although I did have a thumbs up for a motorist behind me yesterday and someone also commented as I got out of the car. Quite funny really as all he said was Salmay Dalmay Adonay and just kept on walking as he looked back at me. There was no reply I could give just a knowing grin between two strangers which says it all really.
Thanks for all your good work and hopefully the club will keep growing.
