Not sure if its noted elsewhere but I found myself on the front page of this site today and spotted the text saying that until the Sky repeats in the 90's the last we saw of Catweazle was in 1972. I don't have immediate access to the dates but LWT showed both series again in the 80's. LWT also repeated both series not long after the original broadcasts and at the time I know we didn't get them on Anglia so I suspect they were LWT only which might be the case with the 80's repeats too

You are quite correct, phelings. That information is inaccurate and could do with being updated. Channel 4 screened the series in something like 84 or 85 (coinciding with when I had a Betamax video recorder, hence why I guess at those dates), but yes, it was definitely shown again before it was shown on satellite.

LWT was the only station to repeat Catweazle originally, both season 1 and 2 back to back on Sunday mornings at 1130 in 1972. No other itv region ran repeats during the 70's.
Channel 4 did not show the series at all. Catweazle returned to the itv network in late August 1982, a weekend tea time slot. However, only the 1st 9 episodes of season 1 were run, the series abruptly cut short for no reason. A whole new generation of Catweazle fans only got to The Power of Adamcos... And then were left HANGING as Catweazle just vanished from the network. No idea why season 1 at least did not do the full run!
The 1982 itv network screenings were missing the break bumpers/ad caps, and were crudely physically spliced into a continuous episode, not edited on VTR for a smooth transition.
The break bumpers were also cut from the LWT repeats in the early 90's, but restored on the Granada Plus screenings in 1996.

Well, one of the episodes I recall taping on Betamax from the 80s repeats (in the London area) was The Ghost Hunters, from Series 2, along with a handful of other episodes from that run, so more must have been shown than you recall, doveboy. My memory is of Channel 4, but my memory is famously dire... As I say, this would have been mid-80s.

I have vhs recordings of those 80's lwt only repeats, not to be confused with the itv network repeats of the 1st nine episodes in 1982. They too have the film ad caps crudely cut out, with noticeable audio missing on some fade outs and fade ins around the break bumpers. At the time, I thought these end of part one, part two film inserts had actually been lost.

I had these too- and I seem to recall that there was an announcement over some of the end credits warning kids not to climb up disused water towers!

Since I was then living in London, LWT only would make sense. Thanks, doveboy!

Interested in some dates for the ITV networked repeats of the 80's. I don't recall seeing them and I'm sure I would have recorded them if they had been on Anglia
Edit - found a listing for The Power of Adamcos in October 1982. I can't begin to understand why I wasn't recording that
