Just to remind people that the summer fete at Home Farm (Hexwood) is still on this weekend (15TH) It will be low key, but we do want people to come and chat with us about next year amongst other things. We will be giving out things for the new website for people to participate in and also The Flying Toad Challenge. If you want to get a 50th t shirt and or mug ready for next year, come along and buy one will they are there or order one. Don't be left out!
Would love to be there on the 15th but sadly Alys and I are doublebooked and will be in central London that day with a friend from the States. We hope that everyone enjoys themselves and that the weather is good. Throw a wellie for me!
Unfortunately cannot make this Saturday at Hexwood. Have something on that I tried to get around but just can't get out of it. Hope those that attend have a great day with good weather. See you the next time. Best wishes and regards, Steve.
A massive thank you to all those who not only braved the rough and windy weather, but travelled long distances just to be with us. You are wonderful people and keep us going! I must name. Yorkie, who brought his lovely wife Sylvia this year, who was an absolute delight AND got stuck in to help out! Yorkie or Jeff is amazing his financial support is mind blowing (and I mean mind blowing!) and his attitude, and willingness to help out is amazing. He travels each year from Yorkshire! Hugs and thanks Yorkie and Sylvia - your now one of us!! Doug travels every year from the depths of Exmoor and rushes back to attend his small holding to make sure the animals are ok. Thanks Doug! The wonderful Jeff and Alice who always come down from Liverpool. They have been with us from day one practically and we have see Alice grow from a little 11 year old in to a lovely young lady but still puts Catweazle at the top of her list! Geoff her dad is a great supporter and always has been - love you both. Jeff and Enid travelled all the way from Wales!! Delightful to see them there too. Jeff has some wonderful photos of previous events and is making sure people have the chance to see some at the 50th event. These are so lovely and create so many lovely memories of the past. The indomitable Vince, the master of the songs that will be able in the shop next week. One you know about but one is a new one about Geoffrey. Vince also does the location dvds which are outstanding and will hopefully have a gallery of then and now photos on the website soon too. All the proceeds of which go to the club. Then there was the lovely Valerie. She comes on her own, which sometimes is hard because you have no one to share the days events with. But not only did she come along after joining last year, but told me that she lost her dear mum this year, and as she received a little legacy from her she wanted to show her support by donating a considerable some to the club. What a wonderful and humbling gesture. It was such a kind act that I didn't quite know how to react. So thank you very much indeed Valerie and thank you for coming to see us again and hope to see you again next year. Andrew and Jaqui came - what a lovely couple always such a great pleasure (and laugh) to see them both Then we had the one and only David with his lovely wife Liz. Well what would I do without him!!! He works tirelessly to bring renewed interest to the website and our memorabilia. He and the marvellous Kevin are making sure everything is just right for the new website. It's a difficult job - especially when I am so fussy and nit picky all the time!! Sorry guys - but a big hug and massive thank you from me too! Jools came as ever with his very attractive son who even left college a week early so that he could come to the day with his dad. Thanks to you both. Thanks also to our lovely Simon Welles and Lou too. Simon is a fabulous chap that helps us out with his knowledge and love for Catweazle many, many times. Poor Lou had a dreadful throat but still came along. Thank you both for coming A couple who are always welcome. I am sure I have missed out people for which I can only apologise, but I thank you all for coming and supporting the club and having a chat about the future etc. The last words go to my co workers, Graham, Mike, Sue and Julia. Lovely as always to see Julia - such a lovely lady. Also a big thank you to Sue who has had many things to deal with and overcome these past couple of years and indeed is still struggling through. It is not easy to turn up at an event such as ours when you are not 100% - but this shows the wonderful support and people we have in the club. So thank you Sue. This year I relied heavily on them especially as I didn't know whether I would be able to attend. But they all stood up to the plate and took a lot off my shoulders, for which I am extremely grateful. A BIG thank you for your help guys n gels for your support and willingness to do everything you possibly could to make the day go well and smoothly. You had to deal with appalling weather and flying gazebos to try to hold down - no easy task, but you manage it beautifully. Thanks also to every body for taking a toad sponsor form home and a twenty questions list (even though there are only 19! lol) I look forward to getting them back! My last thanks goes to another Jeff, who I met a couple of years ago wondering around the farm outside. He said I am going to join, but I didn't hear back from him. Ah well I thought it happens. But I saw him again this year and he apologised about not joining us last year, he had a small problem of dealing with lung cancer!! He had to have a lung removed, but here he was determined to come along and join us. Which he has. So once again a big congratulations for getting over such dreadful trauma and a big welcome to your final membership with us. Thanks as ever to you all xxxxx
I forgot to mention Ian Baker, who sadly could not get down for this years fete. Ian is know as Boozeweazle and for good reason - he brews booze!! Although Ian couldn't make it, he wanted to contribute and send down 16 bottles of special ale that he brewed himself - IT'S GOOD STUFF! Ian is another great supporter and great fun to be around. Next year he is going to brew a very special ale in honour of Catweazle's 50th - so been warned and enjoy! Thanks Ian xx
