I guess you must be thinking that we have forgotten about the Catweazle Weekend as we have usually sold the tickets by now!! Well not at all! The June the 16th weekend is still very much on. As mentioned in a previous post, we really want members to come along and join in with the discussions ideas and general chatter about the 50th Anniversary Event. We would like your input and what you would like to see there or how we present it etc. It should be really good for people to get together to do this together and make it a great and worthy event. A good opportunity to decide how to honour our heroes in 2020. Certain things have already been looked into and I would love to be able for everyone to give their opinions and thoughts.
What we will do is have our tent there as usual and we will have our ideas, photos, information etc of what stage we are at. We will also have our wonderful Castle Saburac donation box and some 50th anniversary key rings and mugs for sale. Then we hope to pootle of down to the pub for a nice evening, with perhaps a quiz or two (we may come up with something else, but at this precise moment, this is a nice option if it's a nice evening) On the Sunday we will probably return to the pub and have a meal there and at the same time we have asked to use the piece of green next to the outside area, to have a game of either Aunt Sally or Bat and Trap - both team games and both a bit of a laugh! Now you will understand why we really HAVE to know who are wanting to come along and join in. We are NOT charging for tickets this year. The farm fee for being there will be subsidised by the club. You will still have to pay the farm for their entry fee as usual. We need to see if we have enough room and also enough for the teams - so it is VERY important to know who will be coming.
So please would you kindly reply to this link if you are coming along as I have put below. Plus anything you want to ask etc. -Thank you very much.

Hi everyone, As we are having a low key Hexwood this year, we are still planning on having some fun on Saturday night and Sunday, I am preparing a quiz, oh no I hear you say not another quiz!! This quiz is slightly different as we will be asking questions from both series of the Catweazle episodes, here is an example of what the quiz is about, firstly we will tell you the episode then we will quote you some lines spoken by one of the characters, we then want you to give us the character and their stage name, here is an example, Sun in a Bottle Line+ Art thow Norman Answer Catweazle (Geoffrey Bayldon) Easy isn't it? So start watching the series, look forward to another great weekend.
Many thanks Greyweazle for sorting the quiz out for us. I am sure we will find one or two prizes too!
Yes this is going to be a low key events this year, but nevertheless, it is probably one of the most important ones we have had over the years, because it involves the future of the club. It also is a way of getting people to tell us what they want or to make suggestions about the 50th anniversary. We do not get nearly enough feed back or replies to our questions or appeals etc. I am very pleased that we have had people write in to say that they are very much still interested in the club and it's updates and news - but - what MAKES the news and the updates is YOU yourselves. People have great ideas, they have great stories, they have questions and they know things that we don't. They have some great suggestions - but we NEVER hear about it or them! YOU ARE our future, YOU ARE our club and we want you to join with us on this particular weekend to voice them, be a big part of the Catweazle 50th. I want you to act like this is YOUR event that you are putting on - because it IS!!! This is the Catweazle Club's event not mine as an individual and YOU ALL have aright to have a say in it and put forward any suggestions and ideas that you think would be great as a display or a tribute or whatever. So please take on board what I have said and come along and have a great day and a lovely chilled out evening. You don't have to stay for the weekend but it would be lovely to spend time together in preparation for the future. So if you ARE coming along please add your name to the list here. If not just email me.
As well as having a pleasant evening quizzing and chatting in the evening, members will have a chance of getting their hands on one of the new 50th Anniversary t shirts and mugs with the great logo on it. I have ordered a handful for the weekend and they look great! The logo will appear on the webpages as soon as Kev can get it changed to the 50th page for us.
Well, although a low key weekend, we had a great time again! It was very sad not to have some of our regulars there due to illness and fathers day commitments. However we also had people turn up that we hadn't known were coming, so we did end up having more than we expected.
I must say a huge thankyou to everybody that bought something towards or just donated to the cause, we did appreciate it. We raised about £500 which was amazing. We have put £300 back into the club to buy more t shirts for the website etc. and we have put £200 into the club - this includes money raised within the £500 by individuals such as David Wiseman who has produced posters and the logos etc. so I think it only right that this is donated by him. We also got another HUGE donation from the wondrous Jeff or Yorky as we are now calling him! This man's support and generosity is unbelievable. The weather was not as great as last year but fortunately the rain held off for the fete. The quiz was held at the Queens head in the garden and despite the freezing wind that blew up, the members got their heads down to participate in Graham's Catweazle quiz. It was by no means an easy one to do, but I was very proud that they were able to answer most of them, therefore proving they really DID know their Catweazle episodes - well done to all!
Thank you too to those that make such long journeys to be with us at the weekends. I know it is neither easy or cheap to participate if you have to come a long way - petrol and hotel prices at this time of year tend to go up not down! It doesn't go unnoticed that you make this effort and we thank you for it. It was nice to see you too Valerie - our newest Sister in Magic. We hope you enjoyed yourself.
About 9 of us stayed at the very nice campsite in the area and whilst it's not quite "Ging Gang Gooley" round the campfire it does come quite close - usually after the boys have had a few!!! I must say at this point a big thank you from myself to Graham, Sue and Mike for sharing their breakfasts, and especially Sue who did a sterling job of cooking it each morning! - Hmmm delicious! We have booked her again for next year!!
If we could get more people camping there even for just the one night it would be good fun - BUT in order to try and get us together and not dispersed all over the area we really MUST know in advance. It gets booked very quickly.
The spirit and magic of Catweazle ALWAYS seems to be there at Hexwood, and it permeates around the people. Robins tree, which we always check over at the farm is growing beautiful and strong. We must catch it next year at the point of blossoming earlier in the year and show everyone, I bet it looks a picture! Next year of course will be the last before the 50th anniversary and of course by that time we will have either got everything at least booked up OR we will have to revise the plans to suit our purse. We would of course love to see you all there in preparation for the following year.
So once again thank you to all those who came, I hope that those of you that weren't feeling well are now feeling better and that those who couldn't make it for other reasons, will be able to make it next year. Thank you too to Jurgin, Elkin and Sandra for their very sweet email from Germany wishing love and all best wishes to all other Weazlers for the weekend. How thoughtful of you. So now I am going to get on with getting the venue finally sorted for the 50th, even if it means moving further south. But first I think I might sleep for a few days!!!Thanks again to everyone for a great and very pleasant weekend. Love to all xxxxxxxxxxxx
