Carol......I'm so sorry to read that all your efforts regarding the "big event" have come to nought, and like the many other Brothers and Sisters in Magic listed above would ask that you keep my donation towards our own special Hexwood celebration in 2020. I'm sure that our merry band of Weazlers will get behind you to make it a brilliant event in whatever form it takes. Fingers crossed we get some positive news on the proposed documentary. Love and hugs Dougxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi Carol.. I'm a weazler that didn't contribute to the event (although, I don't think I did) but I would most definitely like to contribute to the 2020 doo. Can you give me details on how I may donate.. It won't be much, but every little helps!
May I also take this opportunity to thank you for all you do within the Catweazle Fan Club..
Thank you for the links, Carol, for donating.. I used the 'gofundme' link and have just left a donation. On signing in to the site, I realise that i did in fact donate a little while ago! I shall make a donation periodically..
Thank you very much for your donation that is super. You say you have donated before have you done it before under the same signature and if so do you know what your amount is now in total? It would help me find out who all the donators are. If you don't want to put it on here for any reason do please email me xx
Hello Carol. Sorry to hear that the big day is not going to eventuate. It would have been a grand occasion. Please keep my donation and put it to the cause ahead. Should instead be a great day down on the Farm. Best Wishes, Steve.
Yes, it was also becoming a worry because things weren't being addressed as quickly as they should and I had to make decisions that I hoped I didn't have to. However we are starting to put together a day at Hexwood, which we very much hope will be a great day for all members.
Thank you also for allowing us to keep the money for that day. Every bit helps and people have been marvellous. I think we will still have to go on collecting for as long as possible, to be able to do as much as we can.
It is wonderful that donations are still coming in, as we are working out costs even for just our special day, and the amount we have is being allocated fast. We do want to make it as fun and as interesting as possible for everyone. So if you are planning on coming along and joining in the atmosphere and tribute, PLEASE consider donating to it. If you prefer not to do it online, I am more than happy for you to send a cheque. In fact we retain more of the donation that way to be honest, and remember it will be a ticketed event as Neil at the farm wants a cap on numbers. If you donate £20 or more you will get into the event free of charge with a complimentary ticket - IF I have your name and email address. So please, if you have donated make sure I know your details by contacting me email@example.com Some people have yet to get in touch with me. Thank you all once again for your support, lets keep it going. Geoffrey, Kip, Robin and all the others deserve to be celebrated in the best way we can manage and by as many fans as we can allow in. So make sure you get on board quickly or be disappointed.
I would just like to give everyone a quick update about the 50th anniversary.
We have had a few disappointments which have knocked us back somewhat - BUT, determined and continuing to persevere, we think we have now got something together that we hope will result on a brilliant day!
We will put much more when the new website is uploaded as there will be a special page dedicated to it. But we already have some great acts and displays so things are looking much brighter and more settled now.
Let me start by saying that, after several months of assuming we would be having our special anniversary at Hexwood, I was informed last week that after discussions, Neil and Bug, did not want us to hold it there after all. To be fair to them, I suppose it was one day too many for them as they have other events there and that it was on a scale that they didn't want to handle. After receiving that blow, I enquired into hiring ground at Horsley Towers because there was a hotel there and it was very near all the filming areas. Well we needed to be there for the Friday, Saturday and clear up Sunday. The quote came back as £6000 A DAY!!!!! I kid you not. I must admit I phoned them up and said that I thought the quote was outrageous and within no ones budget and that !! However, once again I took to my computer for appropriate land to hire for events in Surrey. As we scrolled through the list, one stood out because it had facilities that we needed - water electric, two loos (although we will hire more) and a food kiosk. It has plenty of room for an arena an encampment etc. So we feel that the previous disappointments may have been a blessing in disguise because this gives us a lot more room and parking will not be a problem - also there is a lovely pub next door AND a Premier Inn 4 minutes away for people who will need to stay overnight. I have spoken to the manager and it seems ideal. So for the first time in a little while I am feeling confident that we can and will be putting on a great event for Catweazle! I will be inspecting it next week for logistical and layout views etc. just for piece of mind. Now we WILL still need as much money as we can possibly gather, because although we have a certain amount at the moment, to be able to have a complete and full day plus hiring loos and a generator, barriers for the arena etc. We will need more that what we have. The new website will have a donation page and we urge people to do what they can. More about this will be on the website as will what the day will involve. Tickets may well be restricted (we hope not) but there is a strong possibility. So been warned that if you want to come, you will need to tell us as early as possible. More later. I will visit the area and meet the manager next weekend and will report back here with more details of venue and dates. Salmay Dalmay Adonay!
Yes Alan, I was dumbstruck, I said to them we are only renting a bit of ground, we are doing all the rest!! How can you possibly charge £6,000 per day? She checked with her manager and he said she was correct so I said bye bye.
I will be phoning the Birds Of Prey people that we had a few years ago at a weekend. They are very good and I hope they will be available.
Everything is very expensive, but thanks to certain people we have done well so far, we just have to keep it going for the next year.
Dear Brother Chasweazle - Thank you again. Every mickle makes a muckle! Every groat makes a penny and all in all every little helps and your continuing donations will mount up to a wonderful donation in total! So your support is much appreciated
Hello Greyweazle, that is most generous of you - thank you very much indeed. You can still use the go fund me, but if you send it direct to me to put in the fund, then we don't have to pay the percentage to the go fund me company. So do please write it out to Carol Barnes and send it to me. I will then put it into the club account for the 50th anniversary fund.
Whilst I am on here I would also like to thank Andrew and Jacqui Eggs who have also sent a most generous £50 cheque for the same purpose. We now have our venue and are listing our wanted acts. All will be described in better detail, with lots more news and ticket availability on the new website that should be ready by the end of January.
Thank you both for your generosity and support, it means a lot xxxxx
Yes the new people I have found have been very accommodating and they have been very good to us money wise. Horsley Towers wanted £6000 per day!!!!!! Meaning a total of £18,000!!!! I was disgusted and told them so. I managed to get the fee at the new venue from £2,000 total for all three days we will need to set up and take down to £1500. They were very kind and I have been up to see the area which is enormous and relatively flat! So plenty of room for a big arena, marquee and movement. Still loads to do of course and we need another £3-4000 to get what we would like to have there, which is why these wonderful donations are so very welcome. So if anyone else is in a generous Christmassy mood to donate to the 50th Anniversary Medieval Day please do, we are going to offer any individual that donates above £25 will get a voucher to get some food on the day as a thank you.
All this will be on the new special 50th anniversary page on the new website, so keep an eye out as details will be on there and tickets will be available by March at the latest. It will be a first come first serve basis and naturally we will be giving priority to donators first, but don't worry there will be lots of tickets available. As I say ticket details etc. will be available shortly.
