Btw, I have now downloaded and started reading these: wonderful. I love how they incorporate handwritten notes. Just read such a note around how a potentially glaring continuity issue had been realised Btw, tomorrow in Canberra it'll be 36c: this is getting too hot even for locals, let me assure you!

I didn't realise that Robin's and Richard's dates are so close.
Indeed. Richard was a master of his art. I keep finding myself researching references in the script to see what lies behind them and there's always a rich, authentic historical basis for it, but his grasp of character and story telling capability are masterful.
His vision in writing the script with Geoffrey in mind....what a happy moment for all of us and what brilliance.

Robin of Sherwood also draws heavily on historical reality - and like Catweazle mixes it with magic, fantasy and myth. Richard Carpenter genuinely deserves to be regarded as one of the great British television writers. His creations are so rich and distinctive.
